The Piedmont Bobwhite Consortium came about as a result of an increasing interest and demand for a regional program dedicated to Northern Bobwhite conservation and hunting on the Piedmont of Georgia. With the evolution of a dedicated gamebird research program housed within the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, we are well situated to coordinate efforts in this up and coming region. The Piedmont and this consortium are different from the more established regions in South Georgia. We have some of the same issues and interests, but with many different problems and possibly quite unique solutions. There is no doubt that the Piedmont offers some opportunities for bobwhite management, but also many challenges. This means that the Consortium must be pragmatic in terms of the potential outcomes for wild bobwhite management and where reared bobwhites are the most feasible option that it is done in the most conservation driven manner.

We see the Consortium having 3 primary goals:

1. Provide a venue for Northern Bobwhite enthusiasts on the Piedmont to link with others with similar interests and management issues.
2. Provide an outlet for dissemination of information targeted at those who are managing bobwhites on the Piedmont.
3. Provide opportunities for professional researchers and managers to interact to obtain research data on bobwhites in the Piedmont context and guidance on the latest approaches and successes.
