Document Actions
During the last 20 years I have been involved in a range of research projects centered mainly on the interaction of humans and gamebirds. This has included research on harvested and management species, such as ring-necked pheasants and northern bobwhites, but also threatened and endangered species in a number of countries. In recent years we have expanded this work to include conservation issues on a range of other species including now pygmy hippos and chimps in Africa.

Background

Since coming to the University of Georgia, I have directed students on projects on a wide range of topics. Many of these have been undertaken in collaboration with Bill Palmer at Tall Timbers Research Station. This collaboration is continuing with projects on quail ecology in South Florida and on various aspects of bobwhite genetics. In addition, projects have come along as a result of my work with the WPA/BirdLife/IUCN Partridge, Quail, and Francolin Specialist Group which has now merged into the Galliformes Specialist Group.
